Ben Stokes has insisted England ’s new aggressive style will not be changing despite being hammered by South Africa at Lords. Stokes suffered his first defeat as captain, as his side lost by an innings and 12 runs inside three days at the home of cricket.
The visitors headed into the day with a healthy 124-run lead and added another 37, to move 161 runs ahead of the hosts. England knew that they needed to bat long to keep the game alive, but this would not be the case.
As a result, the newly-founded aggressive England batting line-up were a shade of themselves from this summer’s victories over New Zealand and India and were bowled out for just 149.
