England star Ben Stokes has confirmed that a documentary on his life is currently being filmed, with a camera crew set to follow him during next month's tour of the West Indies.
A report in the Guardian revealed that Stokes has secretly been filming the documentary over the past 18 months with his sponsor, Red Bull, and production company Whisper, which was co-founded by BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey, former F1 driver David Coulthard and Sunil Patel.
After the news emerged, Stokes took to social media to confirm that the documentary was in the works.
He tweeted : "Yes I’ve been filming a documentary….you can watch it and see how s*** has been for me (pretty interesting tbh)…..orrrrrrr you don’t have to watch it,so please stop having your opinion before you know what I’ve gone in to in the doc…..I’ve had a blast doing it so far."
The filming period has encompassed the tragic death of Stokes' father Ged, the break he took last year to prioritise his mental health and recovery from a finger injury and his dramatic return for the Ashes.
The Guardian state the documentary will also look back at the highs and lows of Stokes' career so far, including the 2017 incident which saw him charged with affray after being involved in a fight outside a nightclub in Bristol.
The incident cost Stokes the opportunity to play in the 2018-19 Ashes series and he was later found not guilty in court.
The documentary will also focus on Stokes' outstanding 2019, which saw him win player of the match in England's dramatic World Cup victory and produce one of the greatest Test innings of all time to win the iconic third Ashes Test at Headingley.
Several of his teammates have already been interviewed for the documentary, with the ECB giving the project their seal of approval.
