Ben Godfrey opens up on Covid problems that disrupted second season at Everton

Ben Godfrey is hopeful his start to the 2022/23 season will not follow a similar pattern to the previous campaign.

The Everton defender missed the opening four matches of last term after testing positive for COVID-19 on the eve of the season, something he found challenging to come back from. Godfrey admitted contracting coronavirus left him feeling like he was playing matches 'in someone else's body' as he struggled with his breathing in matches.

Injury issues also halted the progress of the 24-year-old, who made 12 fewer appearances in all competitions compared to the previous campaign. But optimistic for a fresh start in the weeks ahead, Godfrey's primary wish is to avoid any further Covid-related complications.
