Rising star Ben Doak blew Liverpool fans away with his cameo in a friendly against AC Milan and Jurgen Klopp was left awestruck by his assist for Darwin Nunez.
The former Celtic youngster is making a hell of an impression since swapping Parkhead for Anfield and made his senior debut in the EFL Cup earlier this season. With a number of stars still on a break as the World Cup in Qatar draws to a close, the 17-year-old was taken over to Dubai with the first-team and he got some minutes off the bench against AC Milan as the Reds ran riot with a 4-1 win.
He and fellow academy kid Bobby Clark stole the show with their appearances off the bench and Klopp was seen cheesing after Doak drove through the AC Milan defence like a snowplow before squaring to Darwin Nunez to finish cap off the scoring. The Scotland under-21 cap also hit the post in an explosive seven minutes that took the breath away for many fans.
The Athletic Liverpool writer Caiomhe O'Neill wrote that he "wants to take on the world with every touch," while from an Italian perspective, Sempre Milan's Maxi Angelo wrote: "It's rare to see a 17-year-old with the confidence and mercilessness of Ben Doak. That, combined with his one-against-one prowess and efficiency in his final action will make him a big name in the coming years. Made Klopp smile like a fool."
One fan even compared him to club legend Michael Owen, saying: "Ben Doak really does remind me of a young Michael Owen when he runs at people," while another applauded Doak and Clark for "dominating" the Serie A side: "Ben Doak and Bobby Clark are both unreal footballers. Dominating an AC Milan side since coming on, is it time to start trusting some youth players?"
To that end, another added: "Ben Doak showing what he's all about as he drives at the AC Milan defenders again before squaring it to Nunez who fires into an empty net."
One Scottish fan - who definitely wasn't getting carried away - wrote: "In 16 years time the world will be cheering on Ben Doak to finally win that world cup that ends the debate over who's the GOAT," and another said "don't want to get carried away here but I've just watched 10 minutes of Ben Doak against AC Milan and he looks nailed on to become Scotland's best attacking player in a long, long time."
