Ben Doak has that 'magic dust' and ex-Celtic and Liverpool kid can become 'superstar' says pundit

Ben Doak has that 'magic dust' and left me thinking 'wow'.

That's the verdict of pundit Tam McManus as he heaped huge praise on the former Celtic youngster. The 17-year-old left Parkhead for Liverpool and he has went on a meteoric rise since his switch south of the border. He's already landed a top team debut, an EPL bow and signed pro terms with the club in a whirlwind start to life at Anfield.

The management team and supporters are hugely excited about the prospect after stunning displays in the UEFA Youth League - including goals against Rangers - and also some moments of magic in the top team when handed a major show of faith by Jurgen Klopp. McManus believes the youngster has the world at his feet and he could be that superstar Scotland have been crying out for.

Celtic desperately tried to keep him before his move to Liverpool with Ange Postecoglou even handing him his top team debut against Dundee United before a run out against Rangers in the Old Firm derby. However, it wasn't to be with the Reds benefitting from what McManus describes as a 'seriously talented' starlet.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “I think he broke the record for the youngest Scottish player to play in the Premier League so that says a lot.

"He is outstanding. I watched him play for Scotland Under-21s about six weeks ago and he looked unbelievable for 17, I was thinking ‘wow’.

“He was playing at a great level in a team full of people several years older than him. He’s played in an Old Firm as well, that was his debut.

“Celtic were desperate to keep him. Giving him his debut in the Old Firm just showed how much Ange liked him.

“He has the world at his feet, honestly. Scotland have been desperate for a superstar to come through, not to put too much pressure on him.

“Liverpool have a cracking player on their hands here, he is seriously, seriously talented. He has that magic dust.”
