Ben Chilwell delivers six-word verdict after Reece James makes Chelsea return

Ben Chilwell has sent a message to Reece James after the right wing-back made his return from injury in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday afternoon.

James had not played a minute of football for the Blues in 2022 after injuring his hamstring against Brighton in December and the club's form has suffered as a result.

Thomas Tuchel's side had become reliant on the output of the 22-year-old this campaign as he racked up four goals and five assists in just 16 top-flight appearances.

But he came off the bench as Chelsea drew 0-0 with Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, with Jurgen Klopp's men eventually claiming victory after a penalty shoot-out.

Despite the result, there will be plenty of optimism going forward with James back in the pecking order.

After the game, Tuchel lauded the impact of the defender, who comfortably dispatched his penalty in the shootout.

"We’re coming back. We got quality back today with Reece who made a huge impact for us and we’re in good shape," Tuchel said.

It is a statement that left wing-back Chilwell is also in agreement with.

Chilwell was much less fortunate with his own injury problems as he ruptured his cruciate ligament against Juventus in November and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

He too had become a menace in attack, scoring three goals and claiming one assist in six Premier League appearances.

After the match on Sunday he took to Instagram to deliver a six-word verdict on James' return.

Writing alongside a picture of the pair on his Story, Chilwell said: "Good to see you back brother!"
