Ben Affleck has a "pressure cooker marriage" to Jennifer Lopez which his ex-wife Jennifer Garner is keen to stay out of, according to reports.
Ben and JLo tied the knot in a romantic ceremony last year, but have recently been seen having a number of tense exchanges.
The couple were photographed having a heated interaction on the red carpet earlier this month, as Ben sternly pointed towards something in the distance.
Ben was also seen looking miserable as he showed his wife to her car, before proceeding to slam the door.
A source has claimed Ben's ex-wife "will always feel love" for the actor and sympathises with the "crazy situation", but will not be getting involved.
"Jen doesn't want a full-on war with JLo - it would create difficulties for their co-parenting situation but she's also sick of bailing Ben out.
"She could be forgiven for saying, 'I told you so', but that really isn't her style. It gives her no pleasure to see the father of her kids in a vulnerable position, but it doesn't surprise her," they said.
The source explained that Jennifer is "all too aware" that Ben is "up to his neck in drama", but has made a firm decision to keep out of it.
They also opened up about how Ben's loved ones reacted to the news of him rekindling his romance with Jennifer Lopez.
The couple got back together two years ago, which was two decades on from when they were first romantically linked in the early noughties.
They first began dating in 2002, with them getting engaged that same year.
Ben and Jennifer then postponed their wedding in September 2003 and officially split in January 2004.
"Of course, Jen would never admit this, but neither she nor the majority of Ben's close friends believed that this reunion with Jennifer was the fairy tale they tried to paint it as," the source told Heat Magazine.
Despite the claims, JLo and Ben looked smitten over the weekend as they packed on the PDA while shopping in Los Angeles.
The couple even shared a big smooch, which was caught on camera.
