A popular and long-running dessert shop is due to reopen after a lengthy closure.
Dafna's Cheese Cake Factory has been a firm fixture in Liverpool for decades, amassing a devoted customer base keen to get their hands on its extensive range of sweet treats, cakes and desserts. It first opened in the autumn of 1977, by Anne Lev. Anne retired in October 2019 after 42 years behind the counter, but her legacy continued with the shop being taken over by manager Helen Bond.
In August 2022, the Dafna's team confirmed the venue would be temporarily shutting up shop until the new year. This was due to needing to "carry out some extensive behind the scenes refurbishment works" to its shop and kitchens, "including completely overhauling the electrics and plumbing".

The store closed on September 3 and has remained shut since. Detailing the decision in a post on Facebook, Dafna's Cheese Cake Factory continued: "Re-opening will be early 2023! We are so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but hope you understand that after 45 years some much needed TLC is required for us to continue to serve you our delicious cakes and cheesecakes."
The news was met with hundreds of likes, and heaps of comments from devoted customers hoping for the shop's prompt reopening. Ellen Evans said: "You have to return you are not just a cheesecake shop, you are a Liverpool institution good luck with the refurbishments Dafna's Cheesecake Factory".
Elaine Olga Prescott said: "Good Luck with the refurb! Please don't lose your old curiosity shop charm!" To which, Dafna's replied: "Thank you! We shall do our very best!"
Donatella Woodward commented: "So sad you are temporary closing. [Please], come back next year, don't let us down I will miss you. My husband got the GF Selection Box today. I will miss eating your lovely gluten free cakes."
Judy MacLochlainn said: "Oh my, I've been coming to you since moving to Liverpool in 1980. How can we be without you for several months?? Wishing you well with the refurb but please keep the shop as it is. Absolute quality".
John Smith added: "Gosh, only a temporary closure, I was so shocked when I drove past yesterday and saw the "closing down; everything must go" notice. I look forward to visiting when you reopen."
It is believed Dafna's Cheese Cake Factory will reopen in the next few months, though no official date has been announced. The ECHO has approached the store for comment.
