Beloved sell-out show The King and I coming to Liverpool Empire

The award-winning production The King and I is coming to Liverpool Empire next year on February 21 - 25, 2023.

After visiting Broadway as well as a record breaking UK and international tour, the production will embark on a new UK tour starting from January 2023. It will visit Canterbury, Wimbledon, Liverpool, Birmingham, Wycombe, Bristol, Dartford, Bradford, Southend, Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow.

The tour follows the cinema release of the live production of The King and I: From The Palladium, which was one of the biggest live event in cinemas of 2018. More than 135,000 fans of the show packed cinemas for the initial performance filmed on stage at the London Palladium.

Tony Award-winning Bartlett Sher will once again direct the production with the celebrated creative team that brought the majestic production to life at the London Palladium. Set in 1860s Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional relationship between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher.

Featuring over 50 world-class performers and a full scale orchestra, The King and I is described as 'the greatest musical from the golden age of musicals.' Producer Howard Panter said: “We are delighted to take this majestic multi award-winning production of The King and I on a major UK and international tour in 2023.

"This really is musical theatre at its very best, so we are thrilled that we can now share this wondrous production with theatre lovers up and down the country next year.”
