Surprisingly, the Dutch have not beaten their neighbours since 1997 although their last seven meetings before this one have all come in friendlies.

Poland and Wales complete their top-tier Nations League group meaning this is a vital clash to decide who will qualify for next year’s finals.

Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands are fighting to reassert their authority on the international stage with much expected of this Belgium team at the World Cup later this year.
