Belfast stabbing victim lost eye in attack – as suspect is named for first time

  • Hadi Alodid has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing attack in Belfast that sparked public disorder.
  • Alodid appeared at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody.
  • He faces charges including the attempted murder of Stephen Ogilvie, threats to kill an NHS radiographer, and possession of a knife.
  • The court heard that Stephen Ogilvie lost an eye during the attack, which took place on Monday in Kinnaird Avenue, north Belfast.
  • Alodid, 30, refused legal representation and made no reply to the charges, which were communicated via an Arabic interpreter.
