The death of a popular Belfast man has kickstarted a mammoth fundraising effort in aid of those who cared for him during his illness.
Tommy Kavanagh, who was from Derry, but made home off the Glen Road, in the west of the city, was a well-known father-of-three, doting husband and proud St James Swifts man.
The 43-year-old was diagnosed with stage 4 CRC cancer in December 2021. He died peacefully at the NI Hospice on February 8, 2023, surrounded by his wife Karen, children Niall, Leo and Conor.

From his diagnosis, through to his final months, the Northern Ireland Hospice was there for Tommy, and his surrounding family and friends. The family are embarking on a major fundraising and awareness drive, to give back to the Hospice, in Tommy's memory.
Karen Kavanagh said: "Tommy will leave such a hole in our lives and will be missed beyond words. We have organised a fundraiser in the Hunting Lodge on Saturday 3rd June for NI Hospice in memory of Tommy. And that morning, we'll be hosting a community run too from Sarsfields GAC.
"The Hospice played such a vital role in his final months and have been an invaluable support to us as a family.
"We would like to raise as much awareness and funds as possible and we promise a brilliant night of prizes and entertainment. Tickets are priced at £5 and you can contact myself or a family member directly for them.
"Alternatively there is a Just Giving page for anyone wishing to make a donation. We are going to make this a night to remember and celebrate the legend that is Tommy K.
"I can't think everyone enough for their support for myself and the boys over the past few weeks and months. We want to thank in particular, those who helped and supported him in his final months.
"The NI Hospice, City Hospital and community nurses. Our family, friends and neighbours for their continued support at this difficult time. The contributions from St James Swifts FC, St Johns GAA, The Hunting Lodge Bar and Restaurant, Citi Bank and Stacked Gourmet Sandwich Bar - their support was particularly appreciated.
"We are completely overwhelmed. What a guy our Tommy K was."
