The alleged victim of a stabbing in Belconnen on Friday afternoon is in a "stable" condition at Canberra Hospital.
The police were not giving details about his identity or injuries but it is believed that he was seriously wounded.
Officers were trying to fathom the motive for the disagreement between the two men at a house on Ranken Loop.
The alleged perpetrator is still at large. He was known to the alleged victim but not well-known.
Officers were called to the residence on Ranken Loop at 1pm after they got calls about an altercation between the two men.
Police said one of the men was stabbed during the "serious" incident while the other fled. He was last seen in the Belconnen area, an ACT Policing spokesperson said.
The victim was given first aid at the scene before ambulance paramedics arrived. The man was then taken to the emergency department. On Sunday morning, the police said the alleged victim was in a serious but stable condition.
It is not known if the alleged victim had told police who his attacker was. Officers were not able to talk to him until emergency medical treatment had been done.
