Behind the scenes pictures as The Apprentice candidates do a task at Zip World attraction

BBC’s The Apprentice recently visited Zip World Llechwedd to film a task for an episode in which contestants take over activities at the outdoor adventure centre.

The episode, which aired tonight, saw the candidates attempt a task in North Wales around promoting tourism, with the group asked to plan an adventure-filled experience for holidaymakers and corporate clients.

At Zip World, contestants Akeem Bundu-Kamara, Harpreet Kaur, and Kathryn Louise Burn, were asked to create a bespoke package from the adrenaline-seeking activities offered, along with a cheese tasting masterclass from cheese matured onsite in one of the 16 underground levels of the mine.

The right-hand woman of Lord Alan Sugar, Karren Brady, was around to keep a close eye on proceedings.

It includes tense negotiations with owner and president of Zip World, Sean Taylor, a former Royal Marine who "doesn't hold back" when a candidate asks about a discount ticket deal.

Two of Zip World’s most popular attractions feature in the broadcast, the Titan 2 experience, one of Europe’s longest zip lines, and the Deep Mine Tour that goes into the depths of the striking Llechwedd mine.

Andrew Hudson, commercial director at Zip World, said: “It was so much fun to have The Apprentice contestants and crew with us and to see their take on what we do.

"We always look at how we can deliver the best service to customers, so having a fresh take on that is always interesting to see.

"We loved seeing contestants Akeem, Harpreet, and Kathryn working hard to deliver a great experience and were thrilled to see them enjoying the activities we have on offer.

"We wish them all luck and can’t wait to see what they do next.”

Local recruitment firm Supertemps were also involved in the visit to North Wales - as were Penrhyn Castle and Welsh Highland Railway.

Supertemps managing director Sarah Ellwood said: “Our appearance on the The Apprentice came completely out of the blue, but we were delighted to take part.

“We managed to show off our negotiating skills and the team had a great day out with the cast and crew of the programme, so it was a really fun experience - one we will never forget.”
