With the latest series of winter Love Island on air from January 16, experts and ex-Love Islanders have revealed hidden elements of the show and what actually happens behind the scenes, detailing what a day is really like in the Villa. Over the years, ex-Love Island contestants such as Amy Hart and Millie Court have shed light on bedtimes, takeaways and a beach hut extravaganza.
Wellness Experts at Eden’s Gate have put together everything we know to detail what an average day for Love Island contestants is like.
Good morning islanders!
After being woken up at the same time each morning, lie-ins are off the cards for those who enjoy a slumber in bed. To start the day, the girls usually head to the dressing room and get ready while the boys make a cup of coffee or tea for the girl they are looking to impress.
Can I grab you for a chat?
During breakfast time, the islanders are often encouraged by producers to head outside for ‘chats’ in the morning and start talking about any dramas that are occurring in the villa. With the heat of Spain and South Africa toasty, there tends to be plenty of time for relaxing around the pool before any instructions or challenges get underway.
Siesta, sun & showbiz
Following their catered lunch, which is enjoyed off camera, the afternoon can lead to anything from a text with instructions, a date, or a challenge for the whole villa to partake in.
Millie Court from season 7 revealed that they had ‘chill days’ in the villa which consisted of plenty of relaxing activities and a camera-free day so everyone could recuperate. These days could include fun activities, games by the pool, takeaways, or sweet treats such as ice cream. McDonald’s was usually the islander’s first choice. To ensure no dramas are missed, the islanders sleep in same-sex beds and are not permitted to discuss any couplings or gossip.
The beauty salon secrets
As we all know, the beauty salon is somewhere everyone is visiting in this year's season of the show. The islanders would start getting ready for the evening once it started to get dark as this is when the filming for the night tended to kick off. Amy Hart shared on her TikTok how the girls usually spent around two hours getting ready and that some evenings, such as recoupling’s, filming would often carry on until the early hours of the morning.
Behind the scenes
Before hitting the hay, islanders would all go to the Beach Hut to discuss any events of the evening before they started to get ready for bed. They would then have to make their way to their allocated bed which was shared in their couples (unless on a chill day) or use one of the outdoor beds if they wanted to change up the pairing. Millie Court shared on her YouTube channel that same-sex beds where shared on chill days, ensuring no beauty salon treatments were attended that day.
