Behind Enemy Lines with Bills Wire ahead of Week 2

The Raiders will have a tall task ahead of them on Sunday as they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills. It’s the second straight road game for the Raiders after playing in Denver last weekend.

To get you prepared for this AFC showdown, we spoke with Nick Wojton, the managing editor of the Bills Wire to discuss the Bills going into this matchup.

How much of a concern is the offensive line going into Week 2?

For the successes the Bills have had over the years in terms of roster building, their offensive line construction hasn’t been great. Concern is a good word to use.

Dion Dawkins is consistent and O’Cyrus Torrence gave some hope in his first Week 1 start but the other three were all over the place.

I’m expecting Maxx Crosby to potentially force Spencer Brown out of the lineup, even. He’s the biggest issue.

Are Bills fans concerned with the turnovers from Josh Allen over the last few years?

Certainly. The issue is not just that he’s having turnovers, it’s where they’re coming from. Any time he has four (4) like he did against the New York Jets, that’s a problem. But early in his career, Allen was actually known for not turning it over in the red zone… ever.

He started his career on this ridiculous streak of not giving it away in that area of the field and he only ever did when he’d play “hero ball.” Now that it’s an all-encompassing issue? That’s a major concern and his words don’t really carry any sort of weight anymore when he gets all upset about it.

Who is an under-the-radar player to watch in this game?

I’d go with rookie Dalton Kincaid. He had four catches last week and only mustered up 29 yards. He just did not have the yards after the catch going in his first game and I think that’s going to change throughout 2023. Kincaid was also on the field for about 80 percent of snaps, a sizeable number.

Any notable injuries to watch out for from the Bills?

The Bills have started the year relatively healthy. But I’m keeping an eye on Tre’Davious White. Once upon a time a top-five cornerback, he hasn’t been his full self since his knee injury.

The notion is that a player needs two seasons before they’re back to full health from an ACL issue and that’s where White is now. The Bills are hoping he’s set to bounce back and he did play decent against the Jets despite a ridiculous touchdown catch from Garrett Wilson.

Who wins and why?
It’s hard to pick against Buffalo during their home opener. It’s a holiday in western New York. Plus, there is going to be a level of desperation after losing to the Jets and the Bills have a knack for bounce-backs.
I’ll go Bills 27, Raiders 20.
