Planning has begun for the decommissioning of the Eraring power station site, in the clearest sign yet that Australia's largest coal-fired power station will close in 2029.
Origin Energy recently submitted a scoping report to the NSW Department of Planning that covers the demolition and rehabilitation of site infrastructure, including cooling water infrastructure and hazardous materials disposal, such as coal ash.
