Beeston residents say 'something terrible was always going to happen' as Leeds police launch Bradley Wall murder inquiry

A resident has claimed "something terrible was always going to happen" on part of Fairford Avenue after tragic Bradley Wall, 24, was found dead outside a home on the street on Thursday.

West Yorkshire Police have today (Fri) confirmed detectives have arrested two men on suspicion of murder in connection with Bradley's death. Police were called to the street in Beeston shortly before 2.30pm yesterday where they found the 24-year-old's body outside a home near the junction with Burton Road.

A large cordon remains in place today as enquiries into the young man's death continue. And residents of Fairford Avenue have today told Leeds Live of their shock at the news.

Abdul Khan said he had feared something would happen on the street for a long time. Gesturing towards the cordon, he said: "There has been a lot going on there. Something terrible was going to happen and it has done. I just wish the police would have been stronger."

One resident, who did not want to be named, said he was shocked by the news of Bradley's death. He said: "The first I knew of it was when I saw all of the police tape. It is a shock when something like that happens on your street.

"It is a shame for the area. I've lived here for 15 years and it is quite a nice place to live, some great people live here. The other end of the street (by the police cordon) is a bit different. These things don't happen all of the time and I don't know the people involved."

Detectives have launched a murder probe in the aftermath of Bradley's death and enquiries continue. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody at the time of writing.

In a statement released today, a spokesperson for WYP said: "Bradley Wall, aged 24, from Leeds, was found dead outside an address in Fairford Avenue, Beeston, after officers were called there at 2.26pm yesterday. Detectives from West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) are continuing to carry out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

"Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody. A scene remains in place in Fairford Avenue to undergo forensic examination."

Anyone who witnessed anything in the time leading up to when Bradley was found should call HMET officers on 101, quoting crime reference 13220339897.
