Beer frenzy at Aviva Stadium as internet crash means free pints for all

There were massive queues inside the Aviva Stadium as those at the Aer Lingus College Football Classic were lucky enough to scoop free pints.

Some 13,000 Americans and thousands of Irish packed inside Dublin's Aviva Stadium as the Nebraska Huskers took on Northwestern Wildcats.

And although there was some thrilling action for the fans to dine out on as Northwestern took a 17-14 lead against the odds at the break, fans were able to drink in free pints after internet went down in the stadium.

The tills at the Aviva Stadium were unable to process transactions during the game so match goers were able to scoop up free alcohol and concessions.

And queues for the bar all around the stadium were 20 people deep as word quickly spread of free alcohol sales.

The concessions stands were bare as attendees were able to pick up free food and soft drinks also, making what could be a very expensive day out very cheap.

One Nebraska fan told the Irish Mirror: "It's all free baby. This is the best trip abroad ever."

While a Northwestern fan said of the free alcohol: "Irish hospitality is awesome, we should do this more back home."

And one Irish attendee said: "I've made my money back coming to this with the free pints."
