Bedminster flat 'severely damaged' by early morning fire as investigation launched

A top floor Bristol flat was "severely damaged" by fire in the early hours of this morning (May 18). Fire crews were called to the blaze on East Street, in Bedminster, at around 1.30am.

It has since been confirmed that crews from Bedminster, Hicks Gate and Temple rushed to the scene at the three-storey building. The firefighters used breathing apparatus, high pressure hose reels and a turntable ladder to safely extinguish the flames.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service say the cause of the fire is not yet known. An investigation has now been launched into how it started.
