Beauty guru urges make-up lovers to clean their beauty blenders as soon as possible

Just because you can't see bacteria, doesn't mean that it isn't there, and over time, it can build up and potentially cause problems for you in the future when the bacteria-covered product comes into contact with your face.

And one beauty-loving science fan has shared exactly why it's important that you regularly wash your make-up brushes - including any beauty blenders you may have.

Pamela Pedrozaa captioned her TikTok video: "Testing how much bacteria is on my beauty sponge", and she could be seen wearing gloves with a swab, preparing herself to be seriously grossed out by how much grew in the petri dish.

In the video, Pamela took a well-used beauty blender and swabbed it for bacteria to see how much would grow after two days.

After just 48 hours, the whole petri dish was full of bacteria, and people were horrified and reminded that it was probably time to go ahead and wash their own.

In the comments, people were expressing their concerns about their own beauty blenders.

One joked: "If you tested my sponge you would find a whole ecosystem."

Another said: "If you tested my sponge you would have a bacteria colony."

"I'm throwing every beauty blender away", a repulsed TikToker wrote.

"I'm going to clean my brushes tomorrow", someone admitted.

A woman then recommended washing your make-up brushes every Sunday so they're fresh for the week.

Beauty blenders can be easily washed with a gentle bar of soap.

Just wet your sponge thoroughly, and rub it against the soap, making sure that you rub extra hard where there are stains.

Then squeeze the sponge out under running water until no more make-up residue is visible, and the sponge is no longer sudsy when it's squeezed.

Finally, let the sponge air dry on a towel.

How often do you wash your beauty blender? Let us know in the comments.
