A pillowcase that claims to prevent acne and spell the end to 'bed head' forever is on sale now in the UK.
The Sllvi pillowcase, which has been a viral hit with beauty fans on TikTok, is said to be able to prevent acne, clear up oily skin and help to prevent frizzy hair and split ends. The pillowcase has been labelled a beauty hack on the social media platform.
Created by best friends Max Hertan and Ben Goodman, the Silvi pillow is made from silk treated with antibacterial silver and they claim it can eliminate 99.7% of acne-causing bacteria at night.
The owners are confident the pillow can prevent breakouts of dry and oily skin, blackheads and whiteheads within four weeks, and even says it can prevent split ends and 'bed head' because of the silk material in place of standard cotton.
The brand said: "The pillowcase is clinically-tested, ethically-made, environmentally-friendly, hypoallergenic and made for all skin types using zero chemicals."
The pillow has proved to be a viral hit on TikTok, with over 20 million views on a video showing a person cutting a piece of fabric from the cotton pillowcase and a piece from Silvi Silk pillowcase to test what grows on the material. Within a week the video shows things growing from the cotton petri dish and the Silvi silk preventing any sort of growth.
Katie McLeod, a Silvi fan, said: "I've found my skin feels a bit irritated with my normal cotton/flanelette pillowcases (like itchy) but never with my Silvi case.
"Also, another major perk is that my hair stays impeccable (no bed hair), it honestly looks like I brushed it even though I haven’t touched it since the night before. It’s only been two weeks but I’ve noticed the acne on my cheeks has reduced since I started using my Silvi pillowcase."
Silk has been used as a beauty aid for centuries thanks to its smooth surface and can be used on pillowcases to prevent split ends, frizziness, hair breakage and tangles. The cooling material can also prevent night sweats, according to the brand.
