A beautiful West Country village that is 'mysteriously bypassed' by tourists has just been crowned one of the best places to visit in the UK.
Our area boasts some of the most breathtaking beaches and stunning scenery in the country, and with some many places to visit, it's no wonder some gems get overlooked.
Shaldon, in Devon, has been ranked in the top ten coastal staycation spots in the country. Judged by travel experts at the Daily Telegraph, other towns that made it into the list included Cartmel, in Cumbria and Saltaire, in West Yorkshire.

Judges praised Shaldon for its "elegant Georgian homes" and "neatly-kept bowling green" and called it "one of Devon's best-kept secrets". But despite all its charm, the area is "mysteriously bypassed by the tourist trail", making it perfect for people who want to avoid crowds.
Shaldon is said to describe itself as "a quaint English drinking village with a fishing problem". Although the village is known to have some holiday homes there are plenty of services geared towards the locals, including a butchers which has been in business for more than 100 years.
The Telegraph advises locals to visit The Ness Hotel or Shaldon Beach Huts. Cafe Ode is the pick of the bunch for some pioneering food whereas The London Inn is listed as being the best place for pub grub.
According to the publication, some of the nation's "most eye-catching" villages have been spoiled by mass tourism. It points to an example in Oxfordshire where one local claims he has "lost the peace" he once moved to the county for.
Lustleigh also made it into the top ten. Judges said the village would be "mobbed" by tourists if it was anywhere else in the country. They point to its "idyllic, ever-so-English" appearance.
The village has a shortage of parking and can only be accessed by winding lanes with a ban on all coaches. These factors are likely to be just some of the reasons tourists look elsewhere.
The Telegraph reads: "Lustleigh's setting is sublime and the community is famously close-knit and supportive."
