Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney is to play a surprise gig in the Somerset market town of Frome on Friday night, as a warm-up for his headline slot at the Glastonbury Festival on Saturday. Sir Paul will take to the stage at the Cheese & Grain in Frome with fans rushing to the venue to pick up tickets after the shock announcement this evening.
The 800-capacity venue posted the news on its Twitter feed at 4.50pm and said tickets would go on sale - first come, first served - in person from the town centre concert hall from 5pm today (Thursday).

The post said: "Paul McCartney live in Frome? Tomorrow night at 5pm? OK then! Tickets are available now from our box office in person only."
A spokesperson for the venue, which welcomed Foo Fighters for a surprise gig before they headlined Glastonbury, said tickets were £25 each and limited to two per person who came to buy them.
"In 24 hours time from now Paul McCartney will be performing live, here in Frome, at the Cheese & Grain," he said. "Tickets for this extraordinary experience are available now from our box office in person only and will be available on a strictly first come first served basis. The box office will be open for extended hours this evening until tickets have sold out.
"What an incredible opportunity to watch Paul warm-up for his Glastonbury headlining performance this weekend. What an amazing treat… we are told this won’t be his normal set either so should be an afternoon full of wonderful surprises," he added.
