Bears WR DJ Moore was ‘a little upset’ he wasn’t targeted more vs. Chargers

Bears wide receiver DJ Moore has been the team’s biggest playmaker this season, so you’d think Chicago would try to get the ball in his hands as often as possible. Especially with rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent making his second NFL start.

That wasn’t the case during Sunday night’s brutal 30-13 loss to the Chargers, where Moore was targeted just six times, hauling in four catches for 55 yards.

During an appearance on the Mully & Haugh Show on 670 the Score Monday morning, Moore addressed his down outing. While he credited the Los Angeles defense for making him a priority in coverage, he also admitted he was “a little upset” that he didn’t see more targets.

“I feel like I was open sometimes, and the ball just didn’t come my way,” he said.

That was especially true in the second half, where Chicago trailed 27-7 and were forced to open things up in the passing game. Moore was targeted just once in the second half, which is inexcusable considering he’s the team’s best offensive player.

With starting quarterback Justin Fields determined to return sooner than later, the hope is that changes as the Fields-Moore connection has proven to be lethal.
