The Bears are expected to sign inside linebacker T.J. Edwards to a three-year, $19.5 million deal, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports. He will also get $12 million guaranteed in the deal.
Edwards was drafted by the Eagles in 2019 out of Wisconsin and has spent the past four seasons in Philadelphia. Over the past three years, he has started 43 games, including all 17 in 2022, and has totaled at least 130 tackles in each of the last two seasons. The 26-year-old led the Eagles with 159 tackles and played over 94% of the team’s snaps in 2022.
The Bears are coming off a season where they went 3-14 and allowed the most points per game and second most yards per game in the league. Chicago also enters free agency with the most cap space in the league to help revamp the team for the future. Signing Edwards is just the first move of what is expected to be a huge offseason for the Bears.
