Matt Eberflus’ debut on the sidelines as the Bears’ coach was a modest success, as the team pulled out a 19-14 victory Saturday against the Chiefs. Here are three things worth tracking:
Jenkins plays
Former second-round pick Teven Jenkins came in at right tackle with the second string in the second quarter and was in and out at that position for the rest of the game. Jenkins, who had missed time in camp with an unspecified injury, said he was feeling at full strength.
Upstart rising
Running back Trestan Ebner seemed to be an afterthought when the Bears drafted him in the sixth round (203rd overall), but he has been impressive since arriving. He had the longest play by either team with a 27-yard run in the second quarter.
Sharpe shines
The Bears need all the help they can get at wide receiver, and auditions are open. Tajae Sharpe (above), fighting for his career at 27, took a good step toward claiming a job with two highly difficult catches for 44 yards.
