Just two days after hiring Ryan Poles as their new general manager, the Chicago Bears have found their next head coach.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears are hiring Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus as their new head coach.
Eberflus interviewed with Poles on Wednesday at Halas Hall, and he’s been hired as the new head coach less than a day later.

Eberflus has been coaching in the NFL since 2009, where he served as linebackers coach for the Cleveland Browns (2009-10) and Dallas Cowboys (2011-17) before becoming the Colts defensive coordinator in 2018. Eberflus interviewed for head coaching jobs with the New York Jets and Houston Texans last year.
The Bears had narrowed their list down to three finalists: Eberflus, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Quinn informed teams that he was staying with the Cowboys. And you have to wonder if that impacted the decision to hire Eberflus, especially considering Quinn was believed to be a favorite of Poles’.
