On Monday, the Chicago Bears announced they had completed an interview with Pittsburgh Steelers vice president of football and business administration, Omar Khan for their general manager vacancy.
Kahn has been a general manager in waiting for several years with the Steelers. Every season when you hear about how Pittsburgh is able to squeeze under the salary cap, even when things seem dire, you can thank Khan for making it happen.
It has always felt like a foregone conclusion that Khan would eventually replace Kevin Colbert as the Steelers GM. When it was announced at the end of the season that Colbert is not planning to come back, no one thought much about it in terms of an outside search.
However, with Khan interviewing for the Bears opening, he might not be as sold on the Steelers as we might have assumed. If Khan leaves for Chicago, Pittsburgh would need to scramble and find another top candidate to take over after Colbert steps down after the 2022 NFL draft.
