Bealtaine festival in Derry brought forward due to adverse weather forecast

A new festival in Creggan marking the beginning of summer has been rescheduled for Wednesday night due to weather, it has been announced.

The Bealtaine event in Creggan - marking one of the four major Celtic festivals in Ireland along with Samhain, Imbolc and Lughnasa - is the first of of its kind in Creggan and includes a parade, artwork and fire display.

Schools, youth clubs, and sports clubs are all set to take part in the parade through the streets of Creggan on Thursday evening before the festival is brought to a close with the fire display.
