Beale confirms Cifuentes to Rangers pre-contract agreed as clubs discuss transfer

Jose Cifuentes has agreed a pre-contract with Rangers, but Michael Beale remains hopeful a transfer to bring the midfielder to Ibrox this summer can be reached.

The Ibrox boss confirmed that Rangers have an "agreement" with Cifuentes for the end of the year when his contract with MLS side LAFC ends.

However, Beale is keen to bring Cifuentes to Ibrox this summer ahead of the new season with talks between Rangers and LAFC ongoing behind the scenes.

Beale told Sky Sports: "It is getting closer, again there's logistics with that one; work permits and everything else that goes into it. The clubs are still talking.

"He's out of contract at the end of the year and we have an agreement for that and we would like to bring it to close early if we can so he can join us in this window. Those discussions are ongoing."

Meanwhile, talks between Rangers and Feyenoord are also ongoing over a possible transfer swoop for Brazilian forward Danilo.

Beale explained discussions are continuing between club chiefs as he admitted his admiration for the transfer target.

He added: "There are talks in the background on that one but he's Feyenoord's player at the moment.

"They are building after a really successful campaign last year so we will keep that between the two clubs at the moment and if there is any news on it we will update.

"He is obviously a good player."
