Beach with secret 'salty hot tub' rock pool that attracts dolphins discovered

A beautiful swimming spot where bathers can kick back and soak has been likened to an open-air natural hot tub.

Influencer Roz Purcell took to social media this week to share her discovery of a 'rock pool hot tub' that she found while on a journey out in the west of Ireland.

The keen hiker and wild swimmer was on a trip to Clahane in Clare over the weekend when she came across a rock pool that she dubbed 'an Irish hot tub', the Irish Mirror reported.

The little swimming hole is becoming more and more popular as swimmers make the pilgrimage there to have a go at bathing in the still, salty waters.

The rocks create a natural barrier against the swell of the sea, making it a perfect place for first time salty water swimmers who don't want to contend with any currents.

Once you've completed a few lengths or held your breath and dived down to the bottom of the pool, visitors can relax with a book in the calm waters or chat to other beach goers while having a soak.

As an added bonus, it is not uncommon to spot dolphins or porpoises in the area.

Taking to Instagram, Roz posted a video of her relaxing in the idyllic spot as the sun blasted down on her. Alongside the video the former Miss Universe Ireland wrote in the caption: “Do we call these wild Irish hot tubs?

“Found this little gem in Liscannor, Clahane, Co. Clare, near to the ladder swimming spot, I just walked down along the rocks when the tide was out and came across this and there was another one beside it too!

“They’re deep enough, up to your chest! Just be careful there’s no waves coming in and it’s a calm day so you don’t get a surprise. How cool.”

In the comments beneath fans of the swimming spot spoke enthusiastically about how nice a place it is to visit when the sun is shining.

“Our home every day of the summer," one person said.

"The last two days the water at Clahane has been like a hot bath, incredible! My kids love spending the days crab fishing and swimming. Clahane is a true gem. Glad you enjoyed it Roz."

If it is beautiful beaches you're after, then you could do far worse than Traigh Mheilein beach on the Isle of Harris, Scotland.

Sam and Chris Hoar recently visited the sandy spot were bowled over by the oasis that lay before them.

Despite being separated by more than 5,000 miles, the "white sand and the crystal-clear water" they found felt like it could've been out of a brochure for the Indian Ocean paradise of the Maldives.

The married couple shared their experience of the beach on TikTok in a video that has since gone viral and begins with them sending a drone into the sky to capture the coastal stretch from above.

It is at this point that Sam and Chris spot Traigh Mheilein, an "incredible" stretch of white sand fringed by turquoise waters", prompting them to rush over.

The comparison for the duo was clear as they'd both been to the Maldives twice before, once during their honeymoon.

"The secret beach reminded us of the gorgeous waters there. So clear. We caught it on such a perfect day where it was very still and shimmering in the sunshine," they told MailOnline.

Such is the tucked away nature of the beach Sam and Chris were unable to find it on Google Maps, later discovering its name when they turned to Ordnance Survey maps.
