Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice swap parenting tips “all the time”.
Gallery director Eugenie posted on Instagram last week to congratulate her older sister Beatrice – who has Sienna, three, and stepson Wolfie, eight, with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi - on her pregnancy news but admitted she’d consulted her sibling first on what to write as they always share their experiences.
Eugenie - who has sons August, three, and Ernest, 16 months, with husband Jack Brooksbank – noted she and her sibling turn to each other for advice “all the time” and she feels very lucky to be able to do so.
She told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “I ring her a lot about meltdowns.
“When I was Instagramming that photo, I rang her and I was like, ‘What do you want me to say?’ Because I always want to ask, just in case.
“And she said, ‘Can’t wait to talk about the trials and tribulations of motherhood.’
“I posted about our mothering journey because it really is as if you become part of a club – a mothering club.
“When your children are the same age and going through the same things, it’s the luckiest thing in the world.
“And Bea’s my big sister; I talk to her about everything.”
Eugenie - whose grandmother was the late Queen Elizabeth - hasn’t yet told her sons they have a new cousin on the way.
She said: “I haven’t got that far yet. I think Augie will see her tummy growing and realise, but they don’t get it just yet.”
The princess’ mother, Sarah, Duchess of York, is “so happy” to be a grandmother again and Eugenie loves to see her pride in her family.
She said: “Mum’s funny because she loves her grandchildren so much but you can see this pride for her two daughters.
“She’s like, ‘My babies!’
“When you become a granny, you have the pride for the baby and your baby, she’s got a double whammy there.”
