JALANDHAR: Apart from several other important issues, the upcoming government in Punjab already has a major task cut out for it as the amendment in rules for appointment of Bhakra Beas Management Board members is becoming a major political issue in the state. Already the Congress, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders have spoken up and now farm groups have also started terming it as fresh assault on Punjab’s rights.
The type of political discourse developing around this emotive issue reflects that it can become a farm laws-like hindrance for BJP as it would make very difficult for other political players to cosy up to the saffron party in case of a hung assembly.
