BBC The Traitors viewers 'screaming' as traitors turn on one another in brutal banishment

Thursday's (December 8) edition of BBC 's The Traitors ended with a shocking twist as two of the Traitors turned on each other. As the group deliberated on who they thought was responsible for the 'murders', Wilfred Webster threw fellow traitor Alyssa Chan under the bus after he was accused.

"We always keep saying, 'lets do something different', so I'm going to do something different and go for someone who I don't think is loud so I'm going to go for Alyssa," he said as his co-conspirator looked on in shock. He then added: "I don't buy all of the acting stuff from yesterday. I'm going to do something different and stick to my guns as I'm sick of changing my mind."

Whilst Alyssa would return the favour by trying to convince the group that Wilfred was the traitor, it was to no avail and she was banished from the competition. Third traitor, Amanda, got the deciding vote and opted to also send Alyssa home. The tense scenes prompted a big reaction on social media.

One person wrote: "Not a traitor turning on a traitor this is amazing." A second then said: "Traitor's gonna traitor," referring to the sticky situation that Wilfred and Alyssa found themselves in. A third person added: "#TheTraitors later on Alyssa and Will will be murdering each other." And a fourth commented: "Wilf man… I think Amanda’s hand was forced there, but that was some devastating backstab from Wilfred."

The praise has continued to come in for Amanda (BBC screengrab)

Elsewhere, there was more praise for Amanda, who has previously been called "iconic" by viewers. One person said: "Amanda for S2 of House of The Dragon," implying that she would fit in well in the HBO Game of Thrones spin-off. A second wrote: "Amanda on the Traitors is the best reality show contestant in 20 years." And a third added: "Hell hath no fury like a Welsh, iconic, legendary, traitor Queen like Amanda. She’s playing the best game and she will destroy Wilfred when she decides it’s time and it will iconic."

The Traitors continues on BBC One at 9pm on Wednesday, December 14. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
