Written by an ex Merseyside Police officer, BBC's new original show The Responder is billed as a "distinctive new take" on crime drama.
The show follows Chris Carson, a crisis-stricken, morally compromised, unconventional urgent response officer tackling a series of night shifts on the beat in Liverpool.
Chris is loosely based on former cop Tony Schumacher, and Martin Freeman, best known for The Office and The Hobbit, is said to have spent a year perfecting his Liverpool accent to give a realistic portrayal.

With Martin spending so much of his time on becoming a temporary Scouser, many viewers from Liverpool and further afield will have been eager to hear the result of his efforts.
And within minutes of the first episode, many The Responder viewers took to Twitter to give their verdict.
Jenna Farmer said: "I mean I’m not from Liverpool but Martin Freeman’s accent seems absolutely spot on?!"
goldilocksrocks shared a gif of a man looking pleasantly surprised, and said: "Us at Martin Freeman’s Scouse accent in #TheResponder"
Milly1978 said: "Well Martin Freeman, the accent is good - I'm impressed"

For the duration of its filming - in locations such as Everton, St Helens and Wirral - Martin spoke with a Liverpudlian dialect, including after the cameras had stopped rolling.
Writer Tony said: "You know if you've managed to get past the old dears in cafes on Smithdown Road, you've nailed it."
The Responder airs from Monday at 9pm on BBC One and on BBC iPlayer.
