BBC The One Show viewers complain as show makes major studio change

The One Show viewers were treated to a very different show on Wednesday night.

In a one-off special, the BBC programme relocated from its usual home at the Broadcasting House in London to a rather grand location.

Alex Jones and Ronan Keating hosted the latest show from Buckingham Palace.

The presenting pair were joined by former member of parliament and TV regular Gyles Brandreth and MasterChef star Monica Galetti for the live broadcast from the blue drawing room in the Palace.

But why the change?

Well, The One Show was marking 100 days until the celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June.

While she officially marked 70 years of service earlier this month, there's set to be plenty of celebrations the public can get involved with throughout the year, culminating in a four-day UK bank holiday weekend from June 2-5.

This includes a Platinum Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace which will feature a variety of musical performances from global pop and rock stars to opera singers, with a full, live orchestra.

Alex and Ronan were live from the Blue Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace (PA)

Appearing on The One Show on Wednesday night, Capital Breakfast presenter Roman Kemp stood in the music room to announce the first act for the concert as George Ezra.

However, viewers were not enamoured with the early honouree show as they hit out that it was "cringeworthy", the Daily Star reports.

@Blu_Angel53 tweeted: "Wtaf, celebrating 100 days to go before the queens jublie #TheOneShow."

"What's on tomorrow's #TheOneShow then? 305 days to go until Christmas special?" @cb_038 said.

@paboy113 wrote: "This is all a bit much. Sorry. #theoneshow."

"Absolute cringe. #theoneshow," @Eamon38650173 commented.

Ronan also had a sing-song in the Music Room (PA)

Ronan himself also gave a performance of his track, When You Say Nothing At All, from the music room at Buckingham Palace.

And that was a hit with viewers.

@LaurenNisha said: "I only watch #TheOneShow for Ronan and now finally he sings!!"

"#TheOneShow very well done Ronan. It’s true talent to be able to sing like that with so little backing/accompaniment," @Ellie9691 tweeted.

@AmyJoanne__ commented: "Oh Ronan, this is one of my all time favourite songs fabulous. #TheOneShow."
