Jamie Oliver has been called out by TV viewers over a dish he claimed would cost just £1.45 to make. The celebrity chef came under fire after he appeared on the BBC's The One Show on Thursday where he was promoting his new book, 'One', featuring 'simple one-pan wonders'.
Oliver drew the ire of viewers when he began making sausage and minestrone soup, Birmingham Live reports. The dish contained the ingredients - Cumberland sausage, red wine, parmesan cheese, garlic, fennel seeds and fresh lasagne sheets.
While he cooked, Oliver said: "In this book I've used supermarket ingredients...never more than eight ingredients and for now when people are talking about cost of living and stuff like that, most of the recipes are in pans on hobs. So a hob is about four times cheaper than an oven."
