BBC The Graham Norton Show: James McAvoy's secret marriage rumours and palatial new home following split from actress wife

James McAvoy is appearing on The Graham Norton show on Friday, January, 28 to chat about his latest work in the thriller film My Son.

The 42-year-old actor, who was once married to his former co-star Anne-Marie Duff, is currently in a relationship with Lisa Liberati, who he moved in with in July 2020 - and there have been rumours they are secretly married.

Recent televised zoom interviews with James have given fans glimpses of his stunning London home with double-height rooms, luxury cornice coving and pretty patterned ceilings.

The decor is similar to that of a stately home and although James has not shown his fans much of the home, he and Lisa had been spotted looking at £3.5 million properties while house hunting.

James met Lisa on the set of the 2016 horror film Split, where he played the lead and she was the production assistant.

At the time James was separating from The Salisbury Poisonings star Anne-Marie, who he had been married to for nine years and shares one son with.

The former couple met while filming Shameless, where their characters had a romance on screen, and they married in 2008.

They kept their marriage very private and in 2016 they released a joint statement to announce they were separating.

He and Lisa got together in 2017 and it is rumoured that they secretly married in 2019, however neither has confirmed this.

The couple spent lockdown together in James' London apartment before moving into their new luxury house.

James was born in Scotland and his breakthrough role came when he played Steve McBride in the comedy TV series Shameless.

From there James has starred in some huge Hollywood films, including the X-Man franchise, Atonement and Arthur Christmas.

He also been in some big TV dramas, including His Dark Materials and Watership Down and starred alongside Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman in the 2008 film Wanted.

James is a guest on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, January, 28 on BBC One at 10.35 pm.
