BBC The Graham Norton Show: Andrew Garfield's enduring friendship with Emma Stone years after their split

Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield didn't only enjoy world-wide success when he played the superhero - he also bagged a Hollywood star girlfriend, his co-star Emma Stone.

Emma played Gwen Stacey, Spider-Man's love interest in the 2011 reboot alongside Andrew as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and the romance between Andrew and Emma quickly moved from on-screen to real life.

The pair began dating and stayed together until 2015, filming two Spider-Man films in that time. It is believed that they broke up due to the distance between them as they worked on different film sets.

Andrew and Emma have remained friends and are still "very close".

Garfield even giving her a standing ovation when she won her first Golden Globe Award in 2017, reports People.Com

"I'm her biggest fan as an artist. I'm constantly inspired by her work. I'm constantly inspired by how she handles and holds herself," Garfield said on Vanity Fair's Little Gold Men podcast a few days after the awards show.

"So, for me it's been bliss to be able to watch her success and watch her bloom into the actress she is."

Emma is now married to TV director Dave McCary and in 2021 she gave birth to their first child and although Andrew's love life has remained more private he is rumoured to be dating model Alyssa Miller.

Andrew and Alyssa were pictured together holding hands in New York this month, but neither has publicly confirmed the relationship.

Andrew was born in Los Angeles and moved to Surrey when he was three years old. He shot to fame in 2007 when he starred in the Channel 4 drama Boy A, about a notorious killer trying to return to life after prison.

The American English actor won a BAFTA for Best Actor for his role in Boy A and from there went on to star in the 2010 film Never Let Me Go and the film The Social Network.

His other film credits include the 2016 film Hacksaw Ridge and he most recently appeared in the latest Spider-Man film No Way Home.

He has also won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture- Musical or Comedy for his 2021 film Tick, Tick...Boom!

Andrew will be appearing on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, February, 18 which will air on BBC One at 10.35pm.
