BBC The Graham Norton Show: Adele speaks out about 'gutting' Las Vegas incident and new shows this year

Adele has admitted that, had her Las Vegas residency gone ahead, the shows would have been 'half-arsed'.

In January, a tearful Adele told fans via her Instagram page that her show wasn't ready, and that it was to be postponed due to the impacts of COVID, The Mirror reports. The announcement came less than 24 hours before she was due to take to the stage for the first time in Sin City, leaving fans devastated.

But now, Adele has confessed that she does not think the shows would have been up to standard had they gone ahead. The '30' songstress, who will address the issue tonight in a pre-recorded episode of The Graham Norton Show, said: "I tried my hardest and really thought I would be able to pull something together in time. I regret that I kept going until that late in the day.

"It would have been a really half-arsed show and I can’t do that. People will see straight through me up on the stage and know I didn’t want to be doing it. I’ve never done anything like that in my life and I’m not going to start now."

Although some fans were upset, it seemingly is not the end of the world, as Adele has promised that the shows will '100 per cent' go ahead this year some time.

The 33-year-old said: "We are now working our arses off, but I don’t want to announce a new set of dates until I know everything will definitely be ready. The sooner I can announce the better, but I just can’t in case we are not ready in time," she explained.

"It is absolutely 100% happening this year. It has to happen this year because I’ve got plans for next year. Imagine if I have to cancel because I am having a baby!"

Last month, Adele admitted that she was 'gutted' to have to cancel the shows. In the video posted to Instagram, she opened up to fans: "Half my team, half my crew are hit by Covid, they still are and it's been impossible to finish the show and I can't give you what I have right now and I'm gutted," she explained in a teary video at the time.

"I'm sorry it's so last minute, we've been awake for over 30 hours now trying to figure it out and we've run out of time and I'm so upset and I'm really embarrassed. I'm so sorry to everyone that's travelled again,

"I'm really, really sorry."

Adele will be on The Graham Norton Show sofa tonight alongside Jim Broadbent, Dame Helen Mirren, Golda Rosheuvel and George Ezra.

Tonight's programme will begin at 10:35pm on BBC One
