BBC Strictly's Max George addresses split rumours after Maisie Smith's 'cryptic' post sparks concern

Max George appears to have squashed any rumours of a split between him and new girlfriend Maisie Smith after a 'cryptic post' by the former EastEnders star had fans guessing. The loved-up pair have been packing on the PDAs for weeks after going 'Instagram official' with their relationship in early September.

Maisie, 21, and 34-year-old Max, who shot to fame as part of boyband The Wanted, were rumoured to have struck up a romance after touring the country together in the Strictly Presents: Keeeep Dancing! tour over the summer. The pair were also thought to have jetted off on a romantic trip before Max posted a sweet message as his new girlfriend made her debut on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins on Channel 4.

The pair actually met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020 when Maisie was partnered up with Kevin Clifton and Max was partnered up with Dianne Buswell. They then joined the 2021 contestants on the BBC One show's huge arena tour at the start of the year before being in each other's company again on the Strictly Presents gig.

"He knows me entirely," Maisie, who played Tiffany Butcher in EastEnders for more than 10 years, recently told The Sun. "There are no feelings that I’ve kept inside, which is a weight off my shoulders," she said. When asked if she loves him, Maisie smiled before responding: "Yeah, I do,"

However, fans were concerned earlier this week when Maisie posted a video of herself crying .She posted a cryptic video of herself crying on Tik Tok on Tuesday. The 20-second clip saw the actress, who is currently staring in Strictly Ballroom, shedding tears as she was comforted by her dog, along with the words "you didn’t deserve me" from the song Evergreen (You Didn’t Deserve Me) by Omar Apollo.

Viewers of the video were quick to flock to the comments section with doubts over her relationship, despite Maisie writing in the caption: "Nothing but happiness these days." And it appears she's right as on Wednesday, Max took to Instagram to show a video of the pair in the airport.

Max was mesmerised by a plate-clearing robot as they waited for their flight before later sharing a video of them settling down in their seats on the plane. "And we're off again," the All Time Low singer captioned the footage, as he leaned in for a kiss from Maisie.

Max and Maisie's relationship blossomed following his split from Stacey Giggs. The former couple had split early in the year, however, they rekindled their romance in April following Max's bandmate Tom Parker's tragic death. But they then split for the second time just four months later.

Back in August this year, the singer was forced to cover up a tattoo tribute to his former partner, after having Stacey's name tattooed on his wrist during the height of their three-year on-off romance. Max reportedly spent several hours having his arm inked with a lion and a rose to cover up the previous inking that honoured his ex.
