BBC Strictly's Kaye Adams reveals Loose Women co-stars can get 'tetchy' after disagreements

Loose Women panellist Kaye Adams opened up about her co-stars "disagreements", confessing they can sometimes get "tetchy" during debates.

Kaye, 59, has recently joined the line-up for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing and will try her hand at taking home the glitterball. The broadcaster famously says she can't dance, but is willing to learn ahead of her stint on the BBC ballroom dancing show.

After announcing the news on the ITV talk show, Kaye admitted she was probably the least likely choice out of the panel to go on the show. She even left her co-presenters shocked as well, as Nadia Sawalha dialled in to the show from her holiday and said to Kaye, “Is it actually you?”

Nadia continued: "Oh my God, I feel emotional, honestly I can cry. It’s amazing you can do it because let’s face it, you can’t dance, but that’s what we like to see on Strictly - somebody learn to dance. You’re going to be incredible, you’re so funny, you’ve got the best legs in the business. I can’t wait to get home and cha cha cha with you!”

Kaye then revealed: “Actually it’s quite funny because I’m terrified, I’m absolutely terrified because as Nadia very kindly says, as a supportive friend does - ‘Let’s face it, you can’t dance’, which is true. It’s true! I’ll be a journey [on the show]. I’ll be honest with you, I can think of a million reasons not to do this and I can still think of a million reasons not to do this and when these gorgeous dancers came on, I nearly exited from both ends of my body, honestly. Sorry about that!"

Viewers of the ITV daytime show will see lots of sweet and funny moments between the panellists like this, but there can also be heated clashes between the panellists as well. On Wednesday afternoon, viewers quickly took to social media speculating that Coleen Nolan and Denise Welch came to blows during during an ad-break due to on-screen tension.

Christine was keen to get their thoughts on a claim that women only need one good friend in their life, prompting Denise to mention her attempts to organise a get together for the Loose Women panellists. However, Coleen told Denise she didn't want to come on the Loose Women meet-up, while Linda said the former singer wasn't even in their WhatsApp group.

Viewers immediately noticed a frosty air between the two, and Kaye added to OK! Magazine that the panellists can sometimes be quite "tetchy" after things get heated on the show. “The outside world always wants to know about the arguments and whether we all get on, but we’re all realistic about it and I think we deal with our disagreements really well,” she says.

Kaye adds: “We’re a big group of strong women and there will be stronger relationships between one group and another and one individual and another, but that’s just life. There are times one person doesn’t agree with someone and it can get a bit tetchy, but they go away, simmer down, come back and we forget about it.”

Speaking about her upcoming Strictly stint, she tells OK!: “I’ve never had it in my head to do Strictly. Not because I don’t like the programme – I love it. I’ve just always seen it as something I couldn’t do. I’ve always been the person sitting at the side of the dance floor nursing my drink, looking at other people dancing and thinking it looks wonderful to be able to let go like that and enjoy music. But I can’t do that.

“I never even did dance lessons as a child. When I was five the ballet teacher very diplomatically asked my mum to take me away; she called me Kipper Feet. I’ve never forgotten it. Even at five, I got the vibe that I wasn’t going to be Margot Fonteyn!”

“I’m really not good at all the sexy stuff,” she says frankly. “I’m pretty good at performance if it’s jokey because I’m a bit of a show-off. I’ve done some ridiculous things on Loose Women – I’ve laid half-naked in a bed of cabbage and I can’t even remember why!

“But I would not be able to transport myself to an Argentinian bordello to do the Tango. I’m going to need a sequinned balaclava! I’ll try my best, but I don’t know how I’m going to do it, these things are pretty hard-wired in by the time you get to my age.”
