BBC Strictly's Kaye Adams hits back at online troll following their bizarre rant over her Scottish heritage

Kaye Adams clapped back at an online troll following their bizarre rant over her elimination on Sunday night. The Loose Women presenter, 59, and professional partner Kai Widdrington, 27, were sent home in the first results show of the series.

Kaye and Kai were in the dreaded dance-off with singer Matt Goss, 54, and Nadiya Bychkova, 33. Kaye and Kai performed their Charleston to Music! Music! Music! again while Matt and Nadiya reprised their samba to Night Fever by the Bee Gees. Kaye's Strictly journey came to an end after judges Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse all voted to save Bros star Matt.

However Shirley Ballas said she would have decided to save Kaye and Kai. When asked if she agreed with the other judges, Shirley said: "I didn’t." Host Tess Daly asked: "You didn't?" And Shirley explained: "I thought due to a little better quality, I would have saved Kaye and Kai."

When asked by Tess about their time on the show, Kaye said: “It was the right result and I did make mistakes, and when it comes to that high pressured situation that’s what happens. So I am delighted for Matt and Nadiya, the only person I am just sorry for is this wonderful man [Kai], who has just been so brilliant.

"It was a hell of a lot of fun, I said my ambition was to learn to love to dance, and actually I have seen a whole new side to myself, it’s opened a little door. It’s been a wonderful experience and to spend time with such talented people who love the show so much has been a joy!"

Kaye and Kai spoke about their Strictly journey on It Takes Two (BBC)

Following her departure from the show @TRUEBRIT2020 tweeted to Kaye: "Sadly the 6 million scots never voted for you, maybe it’s because you’re not that good so please don’t say you were put out because you’re Scottish." And Kaye replied: "I would never dream of saying any such thing, Hugh. As I said last night on live TV, it was the right result. Have a lovely day."

Craig said as he delivered his decision: "Well the couple for me, that I considered danced the best on the night, and the couple I would like to save is Matt and Nadiya." And Motsi said: "Well that was so close, both couples made mistakes. I feel like they were on the same level, but one couple was a little bit better for me, and I am saving Matt and Nadiya."

And the show's former professional dancer Anton said: "Well it wasn’t a vintage dance-off, and I know exactly how they feel and I’ve been in that position many times myself and I think if you had the chance you would like to go again, both of you. There were a lot of mistakes for both couples, I felt that one couple lost performance as well, and because of that I would like to save Matt and Nadiya."

Speaking on spin-off show Strictly - It Takes Two Kaye said that the judges' comments were 'fair.' "I thought the judges' comments were fair, I really didn't have a problem with them at all," she said.

Kaye became tearful as she thanked her dance partner. "I'm going to cry. It's been a privilege to work with Kai," she welled-up.
