BBC Strictly fans worried Giovanni Pernice could be 'leaving' show

Strictly Come Dancing fans have been fretting that fan favourite Giovanni Pernice could be leaving the show. The professional dancer, who won the BBC show in 2021 with EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, teased a "dream come true" life update with fans on Instagram on Sunday (June 11).

The Italian heartthrob wrote on Instagram: "Can’t wait to share with you all what I have been up to. One of my dream projects finally is coming to life!

"Let’s play the game.. can you guess what it is? Thank u @jumeirahzsfor having me and of course thank you to @trendingtravel for organising this exciting and fun trip!"

As fans probed to find out what Giovanni's big secret is, one wrote in the comment section: "Gio whatever happens do not leave Strictly please and thank you."

"Doing a show over there but hopefully not leaving Strictly?" another guessed.

A third speculated: "Signed up for residency at the hotel. Bringing the show to Dubai next year and no strictly 2024???"

Meanwhile, other Strictly fans wished Giovanni the best in his new mystery venture. "My guess - launching your own cologne/ aftershave/ toiletries range?" said one. Whatever it is, wishing you all success!"

"It must be Freddie Mercury related with a phrase like that!" another fan speculated. "That'll be awesome to see being such a big fan. Looking forward to it!"

Sicilian-born Giovanni first waltzed into the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom back in 2015, and has been partnered with the likes of former Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore, Corrie star Georgia May Foote, and Ru Paul's Drag Race star Michelle Visage. Away from Strictly, his greatest achievement to date is winning the Italian Championships in 2012, Giovanni has competed in numerous international dance competitions, first competing as an adult in 2008.
