Strictly Come Dancing star Hamza Yassin was quick to call a 'time out' in rehearsals as dance partner Jowita Przystał showed fans an injury she picked up during training for this weekend's routine. The couple, who are the highest-scoring couple of the BBC One series so far will be back in the ballroom on Saturday night.
Last weekend, Strictly returned to Blackpool for the first time in three years and the remaining couples got to perform their epic routines in the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Hamza and Jowita placed third after opening the special episode in sophisticated style by performing an elegant American smooth to New York, New York by Frank Sinatra.
But there's a change in attitude this weekend as the pair will be performing an Argentine Tango to Libertango by Bond. Taking to Instagram on Thursday evening, Jowita and Hamza chatted to fans as they reflected on their appearance on Loose Women before heading over to former Strictly pro Oti Mabuse's own dance studio.
"We had such a lovely day today. We started with Loose Women," Jowita is heard saying. "So lovely. We had a really nice chat and time there. Then we came here to Oti Mabuse’s studio! And we’re doing some rehearsals." Hamza added that "it’s going well" before Jowita said: "But I need to show you something…"
The wildlife cameraman’s face appeared to drop as he asked: "Oh God, what?" While humming the tune of Jaws, theJowita panned the camera to show her left leg which features quite a large and defined bruise. Hamza quickly jumped in to cover the bruise with his hand shouting: "Woah, woah... Time out!"
Defending himself, Hamza continued: "Listen, this is not me! That bruise was not me. That happened accidentally when we are doing, what are they called? Gamchos. It’s the whole little leg flicky kicky thing. I promise I’m not beating her up I promise!" Jowita showed she was just kidding as she laughed before adding: "The sacrifices for this dance."
After making it through to another week in the dance contest last week, Hamza took to Instagram to pay a heartwarming tribute to his "leading lady" as he thanked her for all her support during their time together. Alongside a picture of the pair, the 32-year-old wrote: "To my leading lady @jowitaprzystal...
"It was my absolute pleasure to grace the floor of the famous Blackpool Tower with you. I know how much this particular ballroom means to you as a dancer. It was a great honour to open the show with you, dancing one of my favourite dances (American smooth foxtrot) to the beautiful song, New York, New York by Frank Sinatra."
He added: "Never in a million years did I think I would be on this journey. I want to thank you for your kindness, your patience and your understanding. I shall forever cherish the memory of sharing this stage with you. You are the best!" Upon seeing the post, Jowita replied: "THANK YOU!!!!! For making my dream come true, for your trust and commitment [heart emoji] you are the best!"
