BBC Strictly Come Dancing results: Matt Goss in tears as he leaves competition

The BBC Strictly Come Dancing results are in and the third couple to leave the show has been revealed. Bros singer Matt Goss and his partner Nadiya Bychkova leave Strictly Come Dancing 2022 after the judges chose to save Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima in the dreaded dance-off, which aired on BBC One on Sunday, October 16.

It comes after Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice became the second duo to be voted off by the judges last Sunday. Taking to the dance floor again following the public vote, Matt and Nadiya, who have been in the dance-off once before, performed the Jive to Paul McCartney's version of 'All Shook Up, while Kym and Graziano performed their Samba to Volare by Gipsy Kings.

Following their respective performances, Craig Revel Horwood, before revealing he’d be saving Kym and Graziano, said: “Well, I think both couples went up a major knot. Matt, you went absolutely fantastically mad in that. I loved it. Kym, you were really really great in it as well. But the couple I would like to save is Kym and Graziano.”

When it came to Motsi Mabuse's turn to reveal who she'd save and who she'd eliminate, she said: “From that dance off only, I think, well, I have decided to save Kym and Graziano.”

Meaning he had the potential deciding vote, Anton Du Beke said: “Well, I’d just like to say you should both be thrilled with the way you performed in the dance-off. The most high-pressured of situations. Matt, I thought that was the best performance you put in in the whole series. You should be really proud of yourself. But the couple with the higher technical ability, for me, going through is Kym and Graziano.”

With three votes for Kym, it meant that the Strictly family had to say goodbye to Matt Goss. Shirley Ballas, the panel’s head judge, later revealed that she too would have voted for Kym, although said: "I also felt that both couples were 100% committed, spot on today."

BBC viewers at home flooded social media to share their thoughts at this result, with many saying how Matt should be proud of performing so well in the dance off.

@MDChand77 took to Twitter to say: “Gutted that Matt is out of #strictly. What a smashing fella he is. A great example of what strictly should be about.”

@CronoYellow27 also wrote: “@mattgoss It was wonderful to see you on our tv screens again Matt on #Strictly You gave it your full commitment the whole time. All the best.”

A third, @staffordmike added: “@mattgoss Sorry to see you go Matt, you seem like a nice guy and surprisingly shy for a pop star. This year’s #Strictly is possibly the most competitive I’ve known.”

While others stated that the judges made "the correct decision".
