Strictly Come Dancing fans found themselves being distracted almost instantly as the final got underway. It's been 13 weeks in the making but on Saturday night (December 17) fans of the BBC One show tuned in to see the four remaining couples battle it out for the Glitterball trophy.
The competition started with Helen Skelton, Tony Adams, Tyler West, Ellie Simmonds, Matt Goss, Richie Anderson, Jayde Adams, Fleur East, Hamza Yassin, Kaye Adams, Molly Rainford, James Bye, Kym Marsh, Will Mellor and Ellie Taylor.
But following a closely-thought semi-final, Helen Skelton, Fleur East, Hamza Yassin, and Molly Rainford all made it through the grand final of the competition where they went head-to-head with three dances each in a bid to be crowned the champs of Strictly 2022.
However, before they started their bid to lift the Glitterball trophy, and become the 20th winners of the hit competition, there had to be a spectacular opening as it is the final after all. The show's professional dancer brought the party and festive vibes as they took to the ballroom floor in dazzling outfits.
The group performed an energetic routine to Pink track, Never Gonna Not Dance Again, and it was the perfect opportunity to introduce the finalists and their dance parters - Jowita Przystał, Vito Coppola, Gorka Marquez and Carlos Gu to the stage and allow them to throw a few moves before the serious routines began.
But Strictly fans couldn't help but comment on the dancers' outfits for the occasion, with the female stars donning shimmering purple numbers.
@fakoriginal said: "Pros dressed as the purple one from a tin of Quality Street #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing #scd." @vicki_liv asked: "Is it just me that’s thinking the purple sweet from quality street, while watch the professionals??? #Strictly." @The_Beasthouse commented: "It must be Christmas, the girls have all come as the Purple One. #Strictly."
@stephanie13175 echoed: "Strictly pros dressed as the purple one #strictly." @HareBrainedIdea joked: "All the pros looking good, like a tin of Quality Street! #strictly." @ohsinnerman posted: "Dancing quality street wrappers!!! #strictly." @leemonty5 added: "It’s Quality Street The Musical #strictly."
