Ellie Taylor has been announced as the ninth celebrity taking part in Strictly Come Dancing 2022.
On Tuesday morning's instalment of Lorraine, hosted by Good Morning Britain's Ranvir Singh, Ellie was announced as the next star taking to the Strictly stage. When asked if she could dance, Ellie told Ranvir: "Give me a couple vodka cokes at a wedding and I can dance."
Alongside today's exciting announcement, BBC One has been teasing content ahead of this year, and fans are thrilled that the line up has started to be announced. After Ellie was revealed on the ITV breakfast show, hugging Ranvir she could be heard saying: "Oh my god, I'm going to puke," as she beamed with excitement.
Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Beke are returning to the panel, while four new professionals are joining the line-up. They are European cup winner Vito Coppola, Chinese National Champion Carlos Gu, former Under 21 British National Champion Lauren Oakley and Latin dance champion Michelle Tsiakkas.
Speaking to Ranvir, she admitted that she was very nervous but was looking forward to being on the show. Describing her ideal partner, she said: "I want someone who's patient. I need a tall, patient person."
"I've got a list of music tracks on my phone - it's getting longer and longer," she said, revealing she was already thinking about the music. "The dancing bit is what is completely out of my comfort zone. I'm so excited to be on the show, I can't wait to be on the dance floor," she added. "I would love to do the jive but i'd also like to do the waltz."
Yesterday, it was announced on This Morning that 80s legend Matt Goss would be the eighth celebrity to join this years Strictly line-up. He added in a statement: "I’m extremely nervous and excited, but I’m optimistic because I’m very supple from the knees down."
Alongside Matt, Kiss FM presenter, Tyler West, was the seventh celebrity contestant confirmed for the brand new series of the BBC ballroom dancing show. When asked how he felt to join the series, he buzzed: "I am SO gassed to be joining the Strictly family!"
He joins Paralympic champion and broadcaster, Ellie Simmonds, comedian Jayde Adams, TV and radio presenter Richie Anderson and Loose Women's Kaye Adams' whose involvement was confirmed last week. BBC One kicked off their announcements a day earlier with actors Will Mellor and Kym Marsh confirmed to be taking part.
The Launch Show is confirmed for September 7, leaving just over a month between now and the beginning of the competition.
