BBC Strictly Come Dancing anger as Motsi Mabuse to point finger of blame

BBC's Strictly Come Dancing is our weekly dose of glamour and glitzy and as it was Movie Week this week, so the theme added another dimension to the show and the contestants costumes. But this week's show also served up a result that didn't go down well with judge Motsi Mabuse and she made it clear who she blamed.

Who ends up in the Dance Off is based on a combination of judges' scores and viewer votes. However, it seems that no-one expected the dancers at the bottom of the list to be Richie and Giovanni and Fleur and Vito. In fact, Chronicle Live wrote that Motsi and her judging colleagues were in as much shock at how things turned out as fans at home.

The Movie Week theme created some amazing performances, one of which, from Tyler West and pro partner Dianne Buswell, prompted the first 10s of the new series. Motsi was the first judge to award a perfect score, with Shirley Ballas then following suit. However, while she was all smiles on Saturday's live show, Motsi didn't look impressed when the results came in with Richie Anderson and Fleur East in the bottom two.

After both couples reprised their Movie Week numbers, the judges, apart from Shirley, opted to keep Fleur and Vito in. As Motsi revealed which way she was voting, she also pointed the finger at the public for the result, saying: "I think it's heart-wrenching because I think both of you do NOT deserve to be here, but this is how the public voted."

Reacting to her words, one viewer tweeted Motsi to say: "I suppose in reality the public vote isn't really about the dancing it must make your job hard. I do feel for all the judges in the results show especially when good dancers are in it early in the show," with another posting: "Oh general public wtaf are you doing? Fleur was superb. Richie gave more than Matt Goss, and Motsi was bang on."

However, other viewers felt Motsi was too quick to shift the blame, with a third writing: "Motsi can’t just blame the public vote she needs to think of the points she gives too."
